Wheat straw, once considered an agricultural by-product, has emerged as a versatile resource for livestock and farm animals feed. Wheat straw as a rich source of fiber, best for ruminant animals like cattle and sheep. The straw provides a constant source of “roughness” to keep these microbes functioning optimally.
After the seed and grain are detached from a straw for human consumption, the residual hay straws undergo from a procedure to preserve these straws as forage and use for mushroom tissue culture.
In most of Asian countries wheat straw, serves as a staple feed for farm animals, particularly ruminants like cattle, sheep, cows and goats. Even in most parts of Europe, Wheat straw and hay is considered essential constituent of farm animal feed. Their digestive systems, with the help of rumen microbes, can efficiently break down the complex fibers in straw, extracting essential nutrients.
